Dear Saratoga Wilton Youth Soccer Families:
I write to you as we begin the 2008-09 travel season to talk frankly about three major issues facing the Club:
1) the quality of our soccer product—what we provide our players/teams and how well they progress,
2) the cost of enhancing quality and success, and
3) the importance of increasing our volunteer base, especially in terms of fundraising. Below, I discuss each of these issues and provide our plans for addressing them.
The Saratoga Wilton Youth Soccer Club recently had their annual May Day Classic Soccer Tournament April 26th and 27th, 2008 at Gavin Park in Wilton. It was a hugh success with over 97 teams competing from Souther Vermont to Eastern Massachussetts. In attendance there were over 3,000 + people. There was a Speed Kick competition on Saturday for the older aged level players that was a hugh success. On Sunday there was the Shoot-Out with the biggest trophies available presented to winning players.
Saratoga U10 Boys coach, Jeff Geller had a skills session throughout Sunday.
In addition to the weekend tournament events, the SWYSC U14 A Girls had home field advantage in the third round of the ENYSSA State Cup Championships. They hosted Washingtonville FC Lady Fury. That took place on Sunday, April 27th. For all who missed this weekend event, there is always next year!
