SWYSC Coaches Jeff & Stephanie Geller Attend Largest Soccer Game in US Soccer History

My wife and I, along with my brother and parents, were in attendance at the USA vs. Argentina match held at Giants Stadium on June 8th, 2008.

Saratoga Wilton Soccer Club U-16 Boys Nordic Cup Champions !!!

The U16 boys won their Division at Nordic Cup in Burlington Vermont. Nordic Cup is a regional tournament with teams from VT, NH, NY, Mass, RI and ME.

In the Semifinals Saratoga United beat NH fire 3-0. They won the Championship by beating Liverpool Eagles from Syracuse NY 1-0.

The SWYSC Saratoga United, U14A Girls went on to win the 2nd Round of the State Cup this past Sunday April 13th in Putnum County against the JPSC Flames 2 -0. They now advance to Round 3 and have won the home field advantage. They will play on April 27, 2008 1:00pm at Gavin Park against Washingtonville. Come watch the excitment!

2007 SWYSC Fall Report

We are on the move! Join us!!

The Saratoga-Wilton Youth Soccer Club (SWYSC) has made plenty of progress on and off the field during the past four months. We are intent on building an even brighter future!

Here are the highlights:

  • Our teams are well-trained and competing successfully, look great in their new uniforms (w/ new logos), and have the support of dedicated coaches, trainers, managers, parents, sponsors, and the Board.

Beyond that:

  • A new Board took office, July 2007.
  • Our online player/team registration Online Registration process was launched. (kudos to Registrar Kathy Bobbitt)
  • Nearly 350 players are registered on 16+ teams. All players received attractive Club magnets as our way of saying thanks. (kudos to ALL the families)
  • Three teams played in CDYSL’s fall league. (kudos to Rick Matteson, Tim Rousselle, and Julia Van Zandt)
  • Our under-11 girls team played in the State Cup. (kudos to Rick Matteson)
  • The "new" Club-run Wilton Recreation Soccer Program attracted more than 300 players this fall and got great reviews. (kudos to Rec Director Dennis Ward and Gavin Park’s Steve Porto)
  • Our Fall Academy was quite successful, yielding numerous new members at the U8 level; plus, Club players participated for free! (kudos to Pete Loyola, Skip Parry, Bob Crandall, and others)
  • The Club’s new name, Saratoga-Wilton Youth Soccer Club, was made official, November 2007. (kudos to Steve Dorsey)
  • A new fundraising sponsorship package was created and approved with the intent of lowering costs for our players and families. (kudos to Juergen Klingenberg)
  • A new logo identity system was approved and is in use on our new Adidas uniforms, banners, and virtually everything. (kudos to Juergen and to Jeff Geller)
  • Club apparel is now available in our online store New SWYSC Online Store. Just in time for holiday gifts! (kudos to Juergen Klingenberg)
  • An important long-term planning process and organizational restructuring process is underway. (kudos to Dennis Ward, Ray Bobbitt, and the whole Board)
  • Budget codes, Quick Book, and online banking are being utilized for enhanced financial management. (kudos to Treasurer Deb Lehane)
  • We are aggressively pursuing official 501 C (3) status. (kudos to Deb and Ann Marie Pendergast)
  • New fields at our Gavin home will be ready next fall; a storage shed, new goals, benches, and bleachers have been purchased. (kudos to Dave Carr and the past Board, Steve Porto, and many others)
  • The Chaz Dake Memorial Field, aka the Daniels Road fields, are in great shape. (kudos to Dan Cogan, John Jayko, Jeff Geller, and others)
  • Major revisions to the Club’s bylaws are being drafted. (kudos to Steve Dorsey)
  • We have seen increased participation and enthusiasm on the part of parents supporting subcommittee and fundraising activities, as well as attendance at Board meetings. (kudos too ALL)
